LANGUAGE SETTINGS IN WINDOWS VISTA

Devanagari Settings in Windows Vista

The default language of Windows Vista does not give permission to type the content in certain languages. Thar is why before you start typing on computer in your language of choice, you have to make certain changes in Windows Vista and make it compatible to the fonts of that  particular language. You can make use of the Control Panel in the Windows Vista operating system and add the Devanagari keyboard to it. Click on the 'Start' button on the Taskbar and click on 'Control Panel'. Now click on 'Control Panel Home' option on the left hand side.

Next, click on the 'Clock Language and Region' and click on 'Change Keyboards or Other Input Methods' option. Now in the 'Regional and Language Options' window in the 'Keyboard and Languages Tab', click on the 'Change Keyboards' option.

Now in the 'Text Services and Input Languages' window, in the 'General' Tab, click on the 'Add' button. In the 'Add Input Language' window, in front of the 'Marathi (India)' font, click on the plus sign. Now click on the plus sign in front of the word 'Keyboard' and clock on the 'Devanagari Inscript' and 'Marathi' options and click on OK Button.

Now in the 'Text Services and Input Languages' window, in the 'Default Input Languages', include 'Marathi (India)-Devanagari-Inscript' option and click on the 'Apply' button. Then click on the 'OK' button.

Including 'Advance Key Settings' for Different Languages

In the 'Text Services and Input Languages' window, click on the 'Advance Key Settings' tab. Now click on the 'Marathi (India)-Devanagari-Inscript' option and on the 'Change Key Sequence' button. Next, click on the 'Enable Key Sequence' option and include the 'Ctrl+1' Key and click on the 'OK' button. In the same way, include the 'Ctrl+2' Key for 'English (United States)' and click on the 'OK' button In this way you are assigned Ctrl+1 for Marathi keyboard and Ctrl+2 for English keyboard.

You have now learnt how to type in Marathi. In the same way, you can also type in other Indian regional or international languages. To do that, apply the previous steps that we made while setting the language as Marathi in the 'Add Input Language' window and you can make settings for your own language. You can type by choosing Indian languages like Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Marathi, Panjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, and many other foreign languages.

I will come with more interesting things for you, till then comment if you like this.
